"The most splendid vista Gamache had ever seen."

“Louise Penny’s portrait of Quebec City is as lovingly detailed and evocative as anything she has written, and her control over this intricate blending of history and mystery is absolute.” (The Globe and Mail)

Based on Louise Penny’s best-selling mystery novel Bury your Dead, this two-hour walking tour follows in the footsteps of Chief Inspector Armand Gamache as he investigates the murder of a local amateur archeologist whose body was found in the cellar of the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec. Explore Old Québec City’s narrow streets with our guide and see with your own eyes the places where life and work bring Armand Gamache.

Among other places from the novel, you’ll see the Literary and Historical Society Library; the site where Champlain’s remains were found; Émile Comeau’s home; and several of the locations where Inspector Gamache enjoys walking and eating. You’ll discuss with your guide the events and themes associated with the geography of the novel, and the boundary between fiction and history.

Our professional guides have college training in history, are licensed by the City of Québec and are enthusiastic fans of Gamache and his creator. Who knows, we might find Champlain together!

We’re looking forward to your visit!
